Protocol Droid C-3PO was released in a Target exclusive 2-pack in Fall 2010 together with astromech droid R2-D2. The set was part of the Geonosis Arena Showdown series, which started in 2009 during The Legacy Collection, and by Fall of 2010 consisted of twelve 2-packs totaling 24 figures. C-3PO is based on his appearance in Attack Of The Clones, where he got lost in the Geonosis droid factory, and accidentally ended up with a Battle Droid head on his torso.
3-PO has 14 points of articulation, including ball-joints in the neck, shoulders, elbows, the waist, knees and ankles. The only swivel joints are in both wrists and legs. The figure stands very well on its own, without any balancing problems. The head can easily be pulled off the socket, and be replaced with the Battle Droid head. Both heads plug-in very well and stay firmly attached. Hasbro also included a basic Battle Droid blaster, which unfortunately is a little too big for C-3PO's hands. He can hold it, but just barely and it's likely to fall out after a while.
The paint application on the Geonosis C-3PO is fantastic. There is lots of "dirt" on the figure, giving it a nice used appearance. The cables in the middle of the torso are painted in various colors and look nice as well. Even the knee joints are painted well, and match the rest of the figure's color quite well. The sculpt itself turned out brilliantly and captures C-3PO's likeness perfectly. All in all, this super articulated C-3PO can easily be recommended, and makes a fine addition to the line-up of Attack Of The Clones figures.
The Jedi Knights rush to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin and Padme from execution. The Jedi brandish their lightsabers against the Geonosian warriors and the massive army of battle droids, super battle droids and droidekas. All hope seems lost that any Jedi will survive this battle, then Yoda arrives with an army of clone troopers. Although many Jedi are lost that day, others survive this climatic battle that ushers in the Clone Wars.
